This Image Is Wrong & Shouldn’t Be Reblogged

(This is the same as my reblog to the image, but I wanted to copy it make it a post as well.)

At first I thought, “How clever.” And then I thought, “That’s wrong. I can’t think of a verse that says that.” Then I thought, “What a clever lie perpetuated by Satan.”

Without Christ you are NOT nothing. You are something. You are very valuable. You are of infinite worth to God. God didn’t send Jesus to die for nothings. Christ died and rose from the dead for very valuable creations.

The problem with seeing everyone without Christ as having no value (being nothing) causes us to live in a non-Christ-like fashion. Whether we understand it or not, believing such a thing (I think we are believing we are being humble and exalting the value of Christ) actually causes more harm than good.

Do I care if I shoot nothing? Do I care if I abuse nothing? Do I care if I hate nothing? Do I give to nothing? Should I think about nothing? Should I donate my money toward nothing?

I think you get what I’m saying. If being without Christ = nothing, then everyone who is without Christ is nothing. Thus the somethings should have nothing to do with the nothings.

I want to ponder this some more. If before I had Christ I was nothing, then why did Christ die for nothing? Christ died for something, though. I know the phrase might not be intended to be taken literally, but as it stands it is very dangerous.

When I look down the list of tumblr notes, I see a lot of hearts and simple reblogs. Some people are saying, “without Christ you are Ian”, but for the most part people seem to like it.

In looking at this pic I decided to go back and see who actually put this up. pineappleupsidedown reblogged this and tagged this with truth, reminder, Christ and Christian. But this originated with sarajustus who tagged it with religion=WTF, and For some reason I can’t stop laughing though.

I’m thinking sarajustus and pineappleupsidedown have two very different takes on this. And this is my point. People who don’t follow Christ sometimes get it better than those who claim to follow Christ.

Where the heck did your brain go when you followed Jesus? I am nothing without Christ? This is absurd.

If anything you are more nothing with Christ than without. Think about it. Christ made himself nothing (Philippians 2:7). If we are to imitate Christ then we should be in the process of becoming nothing with Christ, not the other way around.

Why do people believe such lies? Because it’s easy and it makes us feel good. Christians are patting themselves on the back for liking this statement, while non-Christ followers are laughing at us.

Please, stop trying to come up with over simplified sayings that mislead believers from truth.

Reblog this baby! Tell the world that With Christ I Am Becoming Nothing!
